Description

As the Pricing Manager – Cost & Retail at PlaceMakers you’ll play a key role in shaping how we deliver value to our customers while driving profitable growth.  Reporting to the Head of Pricing, you will be the go-to expert for cost and retail pricing, managing competitor analysis, optimising SKU pricing structures, and communicating changes across the business. Working closely with the national pricing team, category managers and marketing to execute national pricing strategies that strengthen our market position and unlock revenue opportunities, all while maintaining strong margin performance.

  • Monitor competitor pricing activity and provide actionable insights and recommendations 
  • Manage core SKU and level pricing processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency 
  • Act as the final point of approval for cost and retail price changes
  • Communicate pricing updates clearly across the branch network 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimise buying strategies and margin performance 
  • Support pricing projects and initiatives as required

Based on site at PlaceMakers Support Office in Penrose, Auckland, this is a permanent full-time role, offering 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About You:
To succeed in this role, you’ll be a pricing professional with a sharp eye for detail and a strong commercial mindset. You’ll be someone who understands how pricing impacts profitability and be confident turning data and competitor insights into actionable strategies.

  • Bring a strong work ethic, approachable nature, and commitment to delivering great service 
  • Deep understanding of competitor activity and market dynamics 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and perform under pressure 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage and build relationships at all levels 
  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail 
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable working across multiple systems (ACE and PIM experience preferred) 
  • Experience in pricing and/or estimations is advantageous 
  • Building or construction industry experience is a plus
