Description

About Laminex Australia:
We’ve been a part of the iconic Australian design landscape for over 90 years. Only a few short years after Australians fell in love with Vegemite, families were spreading their toast in kitchens and on tables made by us. We’ve come a long way.

Today, you’ll see Laminex on surfaces everywhere you look - be it hospitals, shopping centres, restaurants, or your home. We manufacture and procure a broad range of products for commercial and residential use such as laminate, engineered stone, and veneers so that all Australians can live in beautiful, practical spaces.

Where your story begins:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-oriented Process Engineer for our plant in the southwest of Western Australia. The Laminex manufacturing plant located near Dardanup offers a brilliant workplace culture and a broad range of industrial manufacturing equipment, making it an excellent choice for individuals seeking a Process Engineer role. Laminex prides itself on its commitment to maintaining highly efficient and reliable assets in its manufacturing processes.

As a Process Engineer, you will be required to work across all the processing areas and gain valuable experience in optimizing manufacturing processes at the forefront of the manufacturing industry. We currently employ a workforce of 185, and you will report to a qualified Engineering Manager.

The role you’ll play:
The role of the Process Engineer is essential for optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency, and applying engineering principles to address and solve production challenges. You will provide specialist advice on the technical aspects of Particle Board production and the subsequent added value processes and systems.

This role supports the two operational production areas (Particle board & Finish/LPM) to ensure that each team delivers its business plan and targets. It is a responsible position with a mandate to focus on both the 'day to day' operations and longer-term initiatives in each area, continuously improving safety, quality, resource and materials utilization, environmental standards, and staff skills and competencies.

Key focuses & responsibilities will include:
  • Process Engineering Duties: Create/adapt P&IDs, work on mass and energy balances and support projects with process engineering skills
  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE): Identify, prioritize, and implement initiatives to improve OEE (Availability, Performance, and Quality) in Particle Board, Finishing, and ancillary processes.
  • Reduce Product cost: Use 8 waste and process control philosophies to identify, prioritize, and implement waste elimination/reduction initiatives. Optimize Particle material consumption and evaluate alternative Particle materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshooting and process support: Provide sound product and process support to Particle Board and LPM/Finishing teams for analytical troubleshooting to meet ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 system requirements.

To be successful in the role you will ideally need to possess:
  • Tertiary studies in Engineering or Science.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office suite of products including MS Project).
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting to senior leaders and well-developed written communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of product and process control interactions, product testing procedures, and analytical analysis.
  • Practical experience in process and/or continuous manufacturing industry.
  • Prior experience in process and quality control and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to undertake detailed cost-benefit analysis and process validations.
  • High level understanding of process change and the impact on production outcomes.
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality and Environmental systems and processes.
  • Ability to engage others (internally and externally) to achieve business outcomes.

If you're a resilient and adaptable professional, ready to play a critical role in our operations, we're eager to meet you. Apply today, and become a part of our story of Australian manufacturing excellence. Laminex is committed to acknowledging every application as part of our Circle Back Initiative.

NOTE: Given the Christmas holiday period, candidates will not be contacted until after the 6th of January, 2025.
