Join a team that thrives on collaboration and bold thinking, delivering complex civil projects that shape communities and protect environments. Here, your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your work leaves a lasting impact.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team delivering the Cook Strait Interislander Ferries – Wellington Port Infrastructure Early Works. This is a critical enabling package for the wider Interislander programme and involves complex structural, marine, and port-related construction activities within a live operational environment.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will take ownership of planning and delivery across key work fronts, working closely with Site Engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to maintain programme, cost, safety, and quality outcomes.

This role suits a Project Engineer who enjoys complexity, thinks proactively, and is confident leading teams through technically challenging construction stages.

  • Lead planning and delivery of structural and associated civil works
  • Develop and manage short to medium‑term programmes and detailed work packs
  • Coordinate subcontractors, plant, resources, and sequencing to achieve programme milestones
  • Monitor costs, forecast to complete, and manage task budgets
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Site Engineers
  • Maintain strong safety, quality, and environmental performance in a high-risk, live environment
  • Contribute to risk planning, temporary works coordination, and constructability reviews

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer on structural, bridge, marine, or heavy civil projects
  • Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, temporary works, and construction sequencing
  • Confidence leading engineers, supervisors, and subcontractor teams
  • Sound commercial acumen with experience in cost control and forecasting
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
