About the Role

We are seeking a Project Engineer with proven structures experience to help deliver the Hawke’s Bay Expressway. This role has responsibility across planning, delivery, cost, and leadership for bridge and structural works on a major transport project.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to keep the job moving safely, efficiently, and to plan. This is a role for someone who enjoys owning outcomes, thinking ahead, and leading teams through complex construction stages.

Lead planning and delivery of structural and bridge works on the project
Develop and manage short to medium term programmes and work packs
Manage subcontractors, resources, and sequencing to meet programme targets
Monitor costs, forecast to complete, and manage task budgets
Provide technical guidance and support to Site Engineers and supervisors
Maintain strong standards across safety, quality, and environmental controls

What You’ll Bring

You combine solid engineering judgement with a practical, people-focused approach and enjoy being accountable for outcomes.

A tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
Experience as a Project Engineer on structural or bridge projects
Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, temporary works, and construction sequencing
Confidence leading engineers, foremen, and subcontractor teams
Proven planning, cost control, and risk management capability
Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
