Description

Higgins is a leading construction and infrastructure company, proudly building and maintaining roads, bridges and civil projects that connect communities across New Zealand. Part of the Fletcher Construction group, we combine strong local expertise with the backing of one of the country’s largest construction organisations – creating real career opportunities for our people.

Why join Higgins Waikato?
Higgins Waikato is in a strong growth phase with long-term secured work, including the East Waikato Infrastructure Delivery Contract (EWIDC) and Waikato District Council (WDC) contract – providing over 10 years of forward workload. Upcoming projects such as the Cambridge to Piarere Roundabout add further momentum. Our work spans from Bombay to Taupō, with our Hamilton base placing you in the heart of one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing regions – offering a great lifestyle, strong community, and meaningful infrastructure projects.

The opportunity
We’re looking for a Quality Manager or Quality Advisor to join our Waikato team in Hamilton.

In this role, you’ll help shape how quality is delivered across the business. Rather than owning quality in isolation, you’ll work alongside senior leaders and project teams to coach, mentor and enable quality-led delivery. You’ll play a key role in strengthening our quality culture, supported by Higgins’ Big Q quality leadership programme and wider culture framework.
You’ll also be part of a collaborative and experienced EHSQ team, focused on continuous improvement and setting industry standards.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting project teams to develop and implement effective quality management plans
  • Coaching leaders and site teams to embed quality into everyday delivery
  • Contributing to quality strategy and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conducting internal audits and coordinating external inspections
  • Delivering training and championing lessons learned across the region

What you’ll bring
  • Experience in civil construction or infrastructure (quality background not essential)
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC principles
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and coaching skills
  • Experience with Procore, Aconex or similar systems, and MS Office
  • Full, clean driver’s license
  • Quality qualifications, trained auditor status and/or ICAM training are desirable but not essential – we’ll invest in the right person.

What we offer – Come join the Green Team
  • Competitive salary + company vehicle
  • Flexible / hybrid working options
  • Relocation support available
  • Ongoing professional and leadership development, including The Big Q
  • Career pathways across Higgins and Fletcher Construction
  • Educational funds for you and your children
  • Support for school holiday programmes and tutoring
  • Market-leading parental leave
  • Fletcher Building share scheme
  • Discounts with Southern Cross, Z Energy, PlaceMakers, Mico and Samsung

Ko tātou kei a koe i te huarahi kei mua – We’re with you on the road ahead.
