Description

We’re looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our Surfacing team based in Mount Maunganui. This is a practical, site‑based role where you’ll be out on the road, working closely with crews to check that surfacing works are delivered to specification and documented accurately.

You’ll balance field testing, data collection, and reporting with time spent on site supporting delivery teams. Some days you’ll be testing pavement density or collecting samples, other days you’ll be reviewing results, completing quality records, or coordinating with supervisors and engineers. You’ll also be comfortable pitching in on site when needed.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Carrying out onsite quality testing for asphalt and surfacing works
  • Collecting, analysing, and recording quality data and test results
  • Checking works against job instructions, specifications, and standards
  • Liaising with supervisors, engineers, and crews before, during, and after works
  • Completing quality documentation accurately and on time
  • Supporting site activities, including manual tasks where required

What You’ll Bring to the Role
  • We’re open to people who may not tick every box on day one, but who are keen to learn and take pride in getting the detail right.
  • Ideally, you’ll have:
  • A Level 6 or higher qualification in Civil Engineering or similar experience
  • Experience in surfacing, roading, or civil construction quality roles
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers and data
  • The ability to communicate clearly with site teams and supervisors
  • A Class 1 driver licence, with Class 2 or WTR an advantage
  • A practical mindset and willingness to work flexible hours when required
