Description

Higgins is looking for a Renewals Manager to join the Waikato District Council northern road maintenance and renewals contract, based from our Te Kauwhata depot.

This contract covers North Waikato from Huntly to Pōkeno, maintaining a diverse network of around 1,200km of sealed and unsealed roads across rural and coastal environments.

In this role, you’ll lead the planning and delivery of the annual renewals programme across a live transport network. Working closely with contract leadership and delivery teams, you’ll manage safety, quality, cost and customer outcomes while overseeing programme risk and performance. This role suits someone who enjoys ownership and working across both planning and delivery.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead planning and delivery of annual and forward works renewals programmes
  • Use asset data, condition insights and systems (RAMM/AWM) to validate treatments and optimise delivery
  • Oversee pavement rehabilitation, resurfacing, and wider asset renewals (drainage, structures, ancillary assets)
  • Manage internal crews and contractors, including sequencing and resource planning
  • Monitor programme progress, costs, risks and performance
  • Manage variations, claims and programme changes
  • Maintain quality assurance and control across delivery
  • Provide clear reporting, risk identification and escalation
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders

What you’ll bring
  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, construction or similar
  • Experience delivering renewals programmes, civil construction or roading projects
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, planning, cost control and risk management
  • Knowledge of NZTA specifications, standards and roading methodologies
  • Experience with forward works programming, scheduling and optimisation
  • Confident with Excel and asset / digital delivery systems
  • Understanding of traffic management and worksite safety
  • Ability to manage budgets, forecasts and programme financials

What’s on offer
  • Competitive remuneration package
  • KiwiSaver employer contribution matched up to 4%
  • In-house technical training and leadership development programmes
  • Career opportunities across Higgins and Fletcher Construction
  • Retail discounts for you and your family to enjoy
