STMS – NOC Team – Napier

Join the Higgins Green Team in Napier as a Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) within our Networks Outcomes Contract (NOC) — a role that offers variety, teamwork, and development opportunities beyond standard traffic management.

About the Role

This STMS position is more hands-on and team-focused than traditional STMS roles. You’ll work closely with the Leading Hand and be an integral part of the crew, contributing to a wide range of tasks:

  • Follow direction from the Leading Hand
  • Assist with labouring duties: cleaning signs, fixing potholes, responding to emergency events (e.g., road closures)
  • Rather than run the team, they will need to be in the team - and a great team player
  • Complete daily paperwork: pre-starts and on-foot risk assessments
  • Participate on call for a week, on a fortnightly roster. (Friday-Friday)
  • NOC is closer to a standard 40-hour week than Traffic which can run up to 60 hours per week in season (apart from the on call of course)

This role is ideal for a mid-level STMS seeking a better work-life balance or a chance to broaden their skill set. NOC offers greater development pathways than Traffic, including:

  • Class 2 licence
  • WTR endorsements
  • Chainsaw operation
  • Highways certification
  • Connexis civil construction training

What You’ll Bring

  • STMS Cat A/B practising warrant
  • Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 desirable)
  • Traffic management experience
  • Willingness to labour and learn
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
