Are you an experienced maintenance professional with a passion for keeping complex manufacturing equipment running at peak performance?
Golden Bay Cement is seeking a skilled mechanical maintenance fitter to join our team at the Portland site, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our operations.
About the Role:
- Carry out planned and unplanned mechanical maintenance across the site.
- Work closely with shift teams to analyze faults, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Take ownership of mechanical maintenance tasks, including shutdowns and preventive inspections.
- Oversee and document all maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams (maintenance planners, production, engineering, stores, and more) and external suppliers to optimize plant performance and reliability.
What You’ll Bring:
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance & Condition, or Fitting & Tuning (NQF Level 4 or above).
- At least 5 years’ experience in a complex manufacturing environment (cement industry experience is a plus).
- Strong hands-on skills in welding techniques and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and work with a range of machinery (pumps, etc.).
- Solid understanding of maintenance systems, health & safety standards, and relevant legislation.
- Experience with contractor management and continuous improvement initiatives.
You’ll Stand Out If You Also Have:
- Advanced trade certificate (NQF Level 5).
- Experience with cement manufacturing processes.
- Skills in budgeting, management control, and CAD software.
