Description

Fletcher Construction is seeking a Senior Bid Manager to join our Major Projects team based in Auckland. Whether you're an experienced Bid Manager ready for your next challenge, or a Project Manager with a strong engineering background and a talent for navigating complex tenders, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Senior Bid Manager, you’ll lead major bids from strategy to submission, creating an environment where collaboration and innovation thrive. You’ll work closely with internal teams, clients (including NZTA), and partners to develop winning proposals that deliver real value.

  • Leading bid strategy, planning, and execution across major infrastructure projects.
  • Building and managing high-performing bid teams.
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders to understand needs and craft compelling solutions.
  • Overseeing technical submissions, pricing strategies, and risk management.
  • Managing internal governance and approval processes.
  • Using tools like Prospect Manager to track opportunities and allocate resources.
  • Navigating and managing a wide range of tendering processes including traditional, design and construct (D&C), Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), and collaborative models such as Alliances to ensure strategic alignment and successful bid outcomes

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Extensive experience in leading complex tenders across a variety of procurement models including traditional, Design & Construct (D&C), Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), and collaborative delivery models such as Alliances.
  • A proven track record of winning major infrastructure bids, ideally within the New Zealand market and with clients such as NZTA.
  • Deep understanding of client drivers, risk profiles, and value creation, with the ability to craft compelling bid strategies that align with customer objectives.
  • Strong leadership capability to build and manage high-performing bid teams, foster collaboration across internal and external stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead interactive tendering processes and influence senior-level client decisions.
  • Strategic thinking and commercial acumen to manage bid budgets, assess risk, and ensure governance and compliance throughout the bid lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with tools and systems such as Prospect Manager or similar CRM/bid tracking platforms.
  • A Civil Engineering degree or equivalent is beneficial, but not essential - what matters most is your ability to lead winning bids in complex environments.

Why Join Us

  • Work on iconic infrastructure projects across New Zealand
  • Be part of a values-driven, supportive team culture
  • Access to professional development and career growth opportunities
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and industry-leading parental leave

About Us

We pride ourselves on safely delivering a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects for the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific. But our power is not in what we do, it’s in who we are. We are a team of 3,700 people working under three brands: Fletcher Construction, Higgins, and Brian Perry Civil. We may be a big team, but we haven’t lost sight of what really matters: looking after our people.

We recognise that treating our people well is only partially about what happens during work hours. It’s also about the impact we have outside of work hours too. That’s why we have incredible learning and development opportunities for staff and their families, industry-leading parental leave, support systems and generous corporate discounts.
