About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our close-knit team in Penrose. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely financial insights and support. You will also assist the team in providing compliance advice and support to the company, including internal policies and procedures, and compliance with statutory accounting/taxation standards. This role will give you an end-to-end business view and understanding. 

Responsibilities include:
  • 2IC to the Financial Controller where you will lead 2 direct reports
  • Month end journals and consolidation work
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • IFRS 16 leases management
  • Fixed assets management
  • Preparation of year end income taxes and management of indirect taxes 
  • FX hedges management
  • Assist the Financial Controller in various other financial tasks and projects

About You
This role is a true stepping stone to paving an established career path within Laminex and the wider Fletcher Building Group. Supported by an experienced team who can mentor you, you will have the aspiration to develop and further your career, bringing with you:
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a qualified CA/CPA (or working towards it). 
  • Overall, 3-5 years financial accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years’ experience in commercial space, ideally trained at a reputable CA firm prior to that. 
  • Proficient in financial reporting and tax standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills, confident with IF, VLOOKUP, MATCH, and scenario modelling. 
  • Power BI experience, including data modelling and visualisation capabilities (Preferred).
  • Your proactive approach and continuous improvement mindset will be key to your success, as will your ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organisation with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience with legacy ERP systems with the flexibility to work across multiple platforms as we prepare to implement new ERP in the future.
  • You will be thorough with high attention to detail with a super organised approach and ability to prioritise your workload with efficiency.
  • A collaborative team player who is open to challenging themselves and the processes around as well as ability to coach and mentor others.
