Careers Made Possible at Brian Perry Civil
Ready to take the next step in your career? Join a team that thrives on collaboration and bold thinking, delivering complex civil projects that shape communities and protect environments. Here, your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your work leaves a lasting impact.

About the Role

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll lead practical temporary and permanent works designs and work alongside project teams to deliver safe, buildable solutions across Aotearoa. With flexibility on where you’re based, you’ll play a key part in shaping smart construction methodologies and supporting teams from tender through to delivery.

This role can be based in either Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch.

  • Lead conceptual and detailed temporary works designs that meet required standards and quality processes.
  • Prepare clear design documentation, including alternative permanent works for tender submissions.
  • Partner with project and new‑business teams to guide buildable methodologies and early contractor involvement.
  • Support on‑site teams by advising on temporary works needs, registers, inspections, and construction sequencing.
  • Mentor design engineers and draughting staff, contributing to strong technical development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists to ensure coordinated, practical engineering outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and ideally Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards it.
  • Experience in geotechnical or ground‑engineering design, including temporary works or foundation design.
  • Familiarity with relevant engineering software, standards, and codes.
  • Ability to evaluate options, identify risks, and apply sound engineering judgement.
  • Clear, thoughtful communicator who works well across disciplines and project stages.
  • Strong organisational skills and confidence managing multiple design inputs.
  • Inclusive, collaborative style that supports a fair and respectful team culture.
