Senior HSE Advisor

  • Job Type:Full time
  • Category:Environmental Health and Safety
  • Business Group:Brian Perry Civil
  • Location:Auckland
  • Job Reference:FCE/10028107

Brian Perry Civil is a leading and award-winning New Zealand specialist civil and foundation contractor. As part of the overall Fletcher Building Group, we undertake a wide range of challenging civil construction projects throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific with specialities including piling, retaining wall and ground improvement works.

Our HSE approach is to build a proactive, safety focused culture where employees play an active role in the health and safety of our organisation. Our health and safety professionals are central to our HSE approach. We have a newly created opportunity for an HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) Advisor to join our Auckland team supporting our specialist brands – Piletech, PipeWorks, Seovic and our Plant Department.

Reporting to the Specialist Businesses & Innovation Manager in Auckland, you will be responsible for delivering a range of identified practices, programmes and procedures in line with our HSE strategy. You will gain exposure to a range of civil and infrastructure projects and cover a substantial staff base of approximately 130 people across 15 different operational sites across the country. There are significant improvement opportunities to be implemented by the right person. Our ideal candidate will be someone with an appetite to get around to our sites and projects frequently to support the frontline of our business.

What you'll need to bring:
We are keen to speak to people who can achieve HSE excellence through generating engagement in safety, rather than just compliance. Although candidates offering experience relating to the construction sector will be considered favourably, we do not believe that this is an absolute requirement for the role and candidates from closely related industries are encouraged to apply.

This is a challenging position suited to those who are passionate about health and safety and who enjoy working with and alongside a diverse range of people. The successful individual will be someone who has the ability to positively increase HSE performance by building a safety culture through their ability to influence and coach others.

You will have strong working knowledge of the New Zealand legislative environment including HSE, ACC, HSNO and industry guidelines and standards. We are looking for someone who will offer excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively engage and interact with the diversity of people we work with.

The successful candidate will be an individual who can demonstrate their ability to make a significant impact on an organisation’s performance through a range of compelling initiatives they may have created, improved on or adopted.

As well as a competitive package there will be access to the Fletcher Building benefits package including employee education and welfare funds, staff discounts, share schemes, and unrivaled career opportunities in a Group comprising 33 businesses, across 40 different countries.
