Description

Want to shape safety outcomes on a transformative project? Fletcher Construction is looking for a Senior Health & Safety professional to join our team for Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Te Awa Kairangi). If you can turn safety principles into practical actions, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

This role sits at the heart of a large, complex infrastructure project where safety is lived on site. You will work alongside site leaders, supervisors, crews and partners to keep health and safety practical, relevant and effective across daily operations.

  • Partner with site leaders and crews to strengthen everyday health and safety practices
  • Support delivery of the project Health and Safety Management Plan
  • Embed safe systems of work across construction and civil activities
  • Review controls to ensure they are workable and aligned to site realities
  • Coach supervisors and teams through incidents, observations and improvements
  • Help close out actions, risks and lessons learned in a timely way

What you’ll bring to the role

  • A tertiary qualification in health and safety or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in construction, infrastructure or heavy industry environments
  • Confidence working with a wide range of people, from crews to leadership
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and site documentation
  • Clear communication skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach
  • A personal commitment to keeping people safe at work, every day

About Te Awa Kairangi

About Us

We pride ourselves on safely delivering a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects for the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific. But our power is not in what we do, it’s in who we are. We are a team of 3,700 people working under three brands: Fletcher Construction, Higgins, and Brian Perry Civil. We may be a big team, but we haven’t lost sight of what really matters: looking after our people.

We recognise that treating our people well is only partially about what happens during work hours. It’s also about the impact we have outside of work hours too. That’s why we have incredible learning and development opportunities for staff and their families, support systems and generous corporate discounts.

We are actively looking to fill this role and encourage your early application. Applications are reviewed regularly, and we reserve the right to remove the advertisement before the advertised closing date.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t always apply for roles unless they match 100% of the requirements. So, if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t quite fit, we encourage you to apply anyway. We are enriched by many nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles. We are proud of our diversity and see it as one of the things that make us better together.
