What you’ll be doing

  • Maintaining employee data and ensuring data integrity across payroll and time & attendance systems
  • Working closely with the T&A systems team to ensure pay rules, updates, and system changes are robust and tested
  • Managing standard payroll reporting, month-end tasks, EMS/PAYE filing, and year-end reconciliation activities
  • Monitoring compliance with CEAs/IEAs, Holidays Act requirements, tax, superannuation, and other statutory obligations
  • Triaging and resolving payroll queries promptly, escalating when appropriate
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Finance, People & Performance, Business Units, and Group Technology
  • Championing a high level of customer service and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting safety and well-being by modelling safe work practices

About you
  • 5+ years’ payroll experience within large, complex NZ environments, preferably Chris 21 system knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of NZ employment legislation and the Holidays Act
  • Experience working with collective and individual employment agreements
  • Ability to perform off-system calculations to validate payroll outcomes
  • Strong understanding of compliance and internal controls within payroll processes
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to advise stakeholders confidently
  • High attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Customer-focused mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently when required

  • Opportunities for development and career progression
  • Access to a range of Fletcher Building employee benefits and discounts
  • A values-driven culture that prioritises safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement
