Are you ready to make a significant impact on a transformative project? Fletcher Construction is seeking a highly skilled Senior Plant Operator - Civil Earthworks to join our team for Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Te Awa Kairangi).


About the Role

This is a senior, hands-on role for an expert operator who can deliver high-quality finishing work around structures and final surfaces. You’ll operate excavators, loaders, rollers, and other plant with precision, ensuring safety and excellence every time.

  • Execute detailed finishing work to a high standard
  • Operate excavators, loaders, rollers safely and competently
  • Support lifting, placing loads, and daily site operations
  • Carry out pre-start checks and routine maintenance
  • Follow work plans, JSEAs, and uphold safety standards

What you’ll bring to the role

We’re after someone who’s confident, capable, and a true team player. You’ll need to bring solid civil experience to hit the ground running.

  • 10+ years’ experience operating heavy machinery in civil construction
  • Proven finishing expertise on large-scale projects
  • WTR endorsement and Class 2 licence (minimum)
  • Strong safety knowledge and team-first attitude

About Te Awa Kairangi 

Te Awa Kairangi Alliance is delivering transport, walking and cycling improvements to the SH2 Melling interchange and rail station, as part of a wider flood protection and city revitalisation programme.   Fletcher Construction is working with Alliance partners AECOM, NZTA, Taranaki Whānui and Ngāti Toa Rangatira to deliver this transformative project.
