Senior Project Manager – Masterton

Higgins Masterton is looking for an experienced and driven Senior Project Manager to join our team. This is a key leadership role responsible for winning work, delivering high quality civil infrastructure projects, and guiding our people to achieve great outcomes across the Wairarapa region.

If you have strong civil engineering experience, proven project management capability, and enjoy leading teams to deliver safe, efficient and commercially successful projects, this is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established team with long term stability.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading the bidding and tendering process, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing 
  • Identifying and securing new work opportunities and building long term client relationships 
  • Managing day to day project delivery to meet programme, budget and quality targets 
  • Providing accurate monthly reporting including financials, H&S, environmental and QA 
  • Proactively managing project risks, cost to complete forecasting and contract obligations 
  • Overseeing all quality assurance documentation to ensure accuracy and traceability 
  • Managing subcontractors, suppliers and internal resources to deliver works efficiently 
  • Ensuring all operations comply with Health & Safety, environmental and regulatory standards 
  • Leading, coaching and developing project teams to achieve high performance 
  • Working collaboratively with other Project Managers and branches to balance resources


What you’ll bring
  • Engineering Diploma or Degree (preferred) 
  • Strong civil engineering background with proven project management experience 
  • Technical understanding of aggregates, asphalt and construction materials 
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to inspire and hold others accountable 
  • Understanding of the Construction Contracts Act and NZS 3910 
  • Solid knowledge of H&S requirements in the civil construction industry 
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills 
  • Commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting and reporting 
  • Ability to challenge methodologies constructively and drive continuous improvement 
  • MS Project experience and project management qualifications (desirable)
