The opportunity

We are on the lookout for a Service Centre Assistant – Plant Operator to be based at our GBC Mount Maunganui Service Centre located on Hewletts Road.

Working alongside the Service Centre Supervisor, this is a very diverse role where you will be mainly responsible for the operational activities of the site including;

Health and safety of yourself and others whilst on site.
Assist with despatch for timely and distribution of products to our customers.
Production and control of product, ensuring availability to our customers.
General maintenance and housekeeping of the service centre, and certification of the plant and equipment;
Minimising down time on any machinery or equipment, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment is always maintained.

About you

We are looking for someone with great interpersonal skills and who is committed to seeing a job through from beginning to end; thrives on results and possesses a ‘can do’ attitude with a good level of computer literacy.

This hands-on role requires someone who is mechanically and/or engineering-minded (preferred but not essential) and not afraid to get their hands dirty. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships. Computer skills are also essential as documentation is a key part of this role. Flexibility is required, as you will be rostered to work outside of core business hours and on weekends to monitor cement ship discharge.

You must have a genuine interest in and commitment to Health & Safety, assisting us in upholding our values and ensuring everyone goes home safe.

To be successful in this role, you must be highly organised, punctual, and maintain high standards for your workplace. We are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving and is driven to achieve results.

You must hold a current forklift licence or be willing to train, have a full clean driver’s licence, and reliable transport. Manual handling is required, so you must be physically fit and capable of heavy lifting. Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential. Ideally, you will have appropriate industry experience and operational knowledge of plant capability. The ability to work unsupervised (honesty, reliability, trustworthiness) and to work in teams while maintaining positive working relationships is also crucial.
