Site Engineer - Wellington

Higgins Wellington is looking for a motivated and hands on Site Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their engineering career who is keen to learn, grow and build their capability across a wide range of civil construction and maintenance projects.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Support the planning and coordination of daily site activities
  • Assist with preparing quotes, estimates and basic pricing tasks
  • Help organise plant, labour, subcontractors and suppliers for projects
  • Create and draft job work packs for approval, including JSEAs, Method Statements and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Monitor progress, quality and site documentation
  • Assist with tracking project costs and financial information
  • Build strong working relationships with crews, subcontractors and clients
  • Promote safe work practices and support Higgins’ safety, quality and environmental standards

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Some experience in civil construction, roading or an engineering support role (internships or graduate experience welcome)
  • Understanding of civil construction methods, materials and site processes
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (NZDCE, BEng Civil or similar)
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior engineers and supervisors
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a wide range of people
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using MS Office and an interest in developing digital skills
  • A positive attitude, reliability and a commitment to safe work practices
  • Full Class 1 licence
