Specialist Operator - Asphalt Plant

Higgins Hawke’s Bay is looking for an experienced and reliable Specialist Operator - Asphalt Plant to join our team. This is a key operational role responsible for the safe, efficient and high-quality production of asphalt to support our projects across the region.

What you’ll be doing

Operating and monitoring the asphalt plant to ensure consistent, high-quality production
Carrying out daily plant checks, maintenance tasks and troubleshooting issues
Coordinating with dispatch, transport and paving teams to meet production schedules
Ensuring all plant operations comply with safety, environmental and quality standards
Maintaining accurate production records and reporting any issues promptly
Assisting with stockpile management, loader operation and general yard duties
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to optimise plant performance

What you’ll bring

Proven experience operating an asphalt plant or similar heavy industrial machinery
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify and resolve operational issues
Electrical and/or mechanical experience will be advantageous
Loader operating experience (WTR endorsements an advantage)
Understanding of asphalt production processes, materials and quality requirements
Commitment to safe work practices and environmental compliance
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
Reliability, attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
Flexibility to work additional hours when required to meet production demands
