Description

Are you a Structural Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer looking to be part of a landmark infrastructure build?

Fletcher Construction is seeking an experienced engineer to join our team on the Te Awa Kairangi Alliance, working on the New Melling River Bridge – a technically complex 4‑span, 179‑metre steel concrete composite bridge delivered as part of a long‑term programme of works.

This role offers the opportunity to be deeply involved in major structural construction, working with specialist teams on one of New Zealand’s most challenging bridge projects.

About the Role

As a Structural Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning and delivery of bridge and structural works on site. This is a hands‑on, site‑focused role, balancing technical engineering responsibilities with on‑site delivery. You will be part of a dedicated structures team and will:

  • Lead site engineering activities for major structural elements of the bridge
  • Work closely with the BPC piling team during installation of NZ’s largest ever bored piles
  • Support construction of a complex bridge structure over an active fault line
  • Plan construction sequencing, methodologies and work packs
  • Coordinate with design, planning, safety and environmental teams
  • Manage quality, safety and environmental controls, including flood and river risks
  • Maintain accurate site records, reporting and as‑built documentation

The role will suit either a Senior Site Engineer or a Site Engineer ready to step up.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Experience in structures, bridges or complex civil construction projects
  • Strong ability to interpret design drawings and implement them on site
  • A solid understanding of NZ construction methods and site processes
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach
  • The ability to perform in a busy, technically complex site environment

About Us

We pride ourselves on safely delivering a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects for the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific. But our power is not in what we do, it’s in who we are. We are a team of 3,700 people working under three brands: Fletcher Construction, Higgins, and Brian Perry Civil. We may be a big team, but we haven’t lost sight of what really matters: looking after our people.

We recognise that treating our people well is only partially about what happens during work hours. It’s also about the impact we have outside of work hours too. That’s why we have incredible learning and development opportunities for staff and their families, support systems and generous corporate discounts.
