Description

For almost 100 years, we’ve been proud to help shape Aotearoa. Every day, passionate and dedicated people come together as an industry to help build healthy, sustainable homes, creating a better future for all New Zealanders. GIB® Plasterboard is the number one choice by customers in New Zealand.  Our quality and reliable products, along with our unparalleled service and support is what sets us apart. When you start with us, you will learn that we are all brought together by the passion we have for putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.

The Role
Our Technical Support and Training team is a well-established group of six specialists, who provide expert advice, real-world problem solving, and practical training across the country. Reporting to the Technical Support & Training Manager and working from our new Penrose office when not in the field, this role blends technical expertise, customer support and training delivery. In this role you will:
  • Provide on-site support across New Zealand and help customers understand and correctly use our products and systems.
  • Be part of the team operating the GIB® Technical Helpline.
  • Develop technical content, training materials, and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, support industry training programmes and co-present at events.
  • Provide technical training to a range of internal and external customers such as vocational training institutions, builders, architects & designers.
  • Travel occasionally as part of your work.

About You
You’re someone who’s curious about both the “how” and the “why”. You enjoy detail, continuous learning and helping others understand how to build things right. You’ll draw on your practical construction experience and excellent communication skills to deliver exceptional technical support and training. You’ll bring:
  • High level of experience in residential and/or commercial construction – e.g. qualified builder, building inspector, BCITO background, trade qualified carpenter etc.
  • Strong technical understanding of how buildings come together (knowledge of GIB® Systems and Products is a bonus, not a requirement).
  • Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal and public speaking – with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
  • A collaborative, team-first, professional working style.
  • Great organisational skills and the ability manage your time effectively.

What’s on Offer
You will join a supportive, inclusive team culture that values growth, collaboration and balance. A comprehensive induction programme will set you up for success, with ongoing development opportunities available throughout Fletcher Building. You’ll also benefit from:
  • Competitive remuneration including a company vehicle.
  • Extensive training as part of your induction with ongoing training opportunities available.
  • A generous parental leave policy.
  • Employee Education Fund for both you and dependents.
  • Discounts on products, petrol and more.

If you would like to join a high-performing team within a respected Kiwi brand, we’d love to hear from you. Apply Now.

Studies indicate that some females and minority groups may hesitate to apply unless they meet all the criteria. If this role interests you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement. Our teams thrive on diversity, embracing various nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles. We are proud of our diversity and see it as one of the things that make us better together.
