Description

We’re on the lookout for a detail-driven Technical Writer to join our dynamic Project Burgundy team at Laminex on a 12-month contract. Based in our Auckland head office with frequent travel to site, this is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting the launch of our new Taupo plant by creating clear, concise, and user-friendly training materials for our front-line teams.

Why join us?
At Laminex, we’re proud to be part of Fletcher Building and a trusted name in decorative surfaces and panel products. With iconic brands like Formica®, Melteca®, and Caesarstone®, we’re committed to delivering quality and innovation across New Zealand’s building industry. Safety is our top priority, and we’re passionate about creating a workplace where people thrive.

What you’ll be doing:
As our Technical Writer, you’ll translate complex technical processes into easy-to-follow documentation that supports learning, safety, and operational excellence. You’ll work closely with subject matter experts and leaders to:
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and job assessments for new equipment and processes at the Taupo plant.
  • Create engaging and accessible training materials tailored to a range of literacy and technical levels.
  • Upload and manage content in our Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring alignment with employee development plans.
  • Maintain accurate training records and version control in line with ISO 45001 and Laminex standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Health & Safety, Manufacturing, and People & Performance to ensure documentation meets compliance and operational needs.

What you’ll bring:
  • Experience simplifying technical content into clear, practical documentation.
  • Experience setting up front end SOP process frameworks for project transitions
  • Strong understanding of H&S documentation requirements (ideally ISO 45001).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills – you know how to ask the right questions and turn insights into action.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms (Cornerstone preferred), SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • A Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (or equivalent experience).

What success looks like:
  • SOPs and training materials are accurate, easy to use, and well-received by end users.
  • Training content is delivered on time and aligned with project milestones.
  • LMS content is up-to-date, accessible, and supports employee readiness.
  • You’re a trusted partner to leaders and SMEs, helping bring our learning strategy to life.
