Why Join Us?

It’s an exciting time to be part of the booming residential construction sector. We’re a high performing business and are proud to say that we have a highly engaged and successful team. We have a fantastic people culture and encourage everyone to bring their full and genuine selves to work. Our workplaces are enriched by many different nationalities, languages, religions, customs and lifestyles. We’re proud of this diversity and understand that it brings a richer and broader perspective to how we operate by helping us connect better with our people and with our customer base.

The Role

This is a fixed-term position based at our Canterbury Branch and reporting to our National HSE Manager.  You’ll spend part of your time in the office and the rest out on-site across our various housing developments such as our One Central urban community and our master-planned residential community in Faringdon, Rolleston.  You will work closely with our own construction team as well as our subcontractors and skilled tradespeople. A key focus of this role will be to continually develop, improve and facilitate a strong safety culture and to ensure the provision of a safe working environment for employees and subcontractors. This is a challenging role and is ideally suited to those who are passionate about health and safety and keen to be an instrumental part of setting the benchmark across the construction sector.

About You

We are interested to talk with candidates who can offer a proven EHS track record within civil and/or commercial construction.  You will be experienced implementing HSE procedures, gaining buy-in and therefore compliance, followed by monitoring, auditing, accident & incident investigation and reporting. To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent administrative and interpersonal skills and the ability to positively increase H&S performance by influencing, supporting and coaching. The successful candidate will be able to modify and adapt to a wide range of people from senior managers to supervisors, skilled tradespeople and subcontractors. It goes without saying that your communication skills will be a key strength.

Benefits

At Fletcher Living, you will enjoy the benefits and recognition of working for a well-respected business unit within the Fletcher Building Group.  While this is a fixed-term role, few other organisations can offer the breadth and scope of career development options that we can, so this opportunity is an ideal platform for high performers to be seen within the group.  Along with providing a competitive salary, this role will see you working with a high performing team with a clear vision and goals.  You will be encouraged to share ideas and will have the opportunity to build relationships with the Construction team on site.

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for safety professionals at Fletcher Building and we are looking for future leaders to join our teams! FB is embarking on a multi-year, safety change programme to take our safety programme (Protect) to world-class levels in terms of safety culture, capability and critical risk management. To do this, we have partnered with Dupont Sustainable Solutions (DSS). DSS is a world leader in safety culture and operational excellence with over 50 years’ experience in helping organisations improve operational effectiveness and capabilities through world-class thinking such as the Dupont-Bradley Curve. As a safety professional, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from the best in the business and join a leadership team that is committed to redefining how we do safety in NZ and Australia.
