New Zealand Distribution is a division within Fletcher Building and is probably better known through two of its major brands – PlaceMakers and Mico.
Between the two, they have a footprint of over 60 locations across New Zealand. PlaceMakers is NZ’s leading and largest supplier of building materials and Mico are the same within the plumbing and bathroom ware sectors.
The Talent / Recruitment function was established within NZD in July 2018, having previously been part of a centralised Fletcher Building function. At the time we were 3 people strong.
Since then we have gone from strength to strength, despite the challenges we have faced over the last 12 months. We are a very close knit, high performing team of 6 and we have developed a name for ourselves within FB around being innovative, nimble and thinking outside of the box!
It is unusual to write an advert for someone to take your seat….but here we go! I have been offered an opportunity, as a secondment, to move into role within the NZD HR team. As a result, we are looking for a capable, passionate and committed person to step into my shoes and take the team forward for a 12 month fixed term period.
We are going through a dynamic and interesting time as we continue to grow and adapt to current market conditions and with that comes an increased demand for more great people. It is still a challenging market out there, so although we have a good team and a good employment brand, there is still plenty of work to do in both the recruitment and the brand space in order to stay ahead of the pack.
We are a small, but high performing Recruitment and Talent function and we are part of a really great HR and L&D team. So you’ll be joining a good group of people all providing their unique skills and experience to provide a superb support function to our branches.
You will report to the GM of HR and be part of their senior leadership team in the people space for NZD, which means you will have an opportunity to work at a strategic level to really understand the needs of the business and be able to work with the team to adapt and respond accordingly.
What are we looking for?
We need a capable Senior Recruiter who offers proven experience in leading and managing a team.
- This role will still see you taking on recruitment for senior level appointment so you will need to be someone who is prepared to role your sleeves up and to muck in when the team needs you!
- You will be a strong relationship builder – we have great relationships in place and the business values us as a function they can come to for advice and support – so are looking for someone who will quickly develop credulity, rapport and trust with a wide range of stake-holders.
- Resilience, grit and tenacity will also see you in good stead and will be required given we are still operating in an environment where who knows what tomorrow could bring!
- Customer service must be important to you as this underpins everything we do here! If we make promises or say we are going to do something, then follow through is critical. Candidate care is another key area, as a team we are committed to ensuring that anyone going through our recruitment process is treated with respect and consideration as our employment brand is very important to us.
