This is certainly the case for our Property Development Team who are tasked with the delivery of successful fit outs and the commissioning of both new and refurbished branches. The team also looks after Mico Plumbing & Bathrooms, which when combined with PlaceMakers, takes the total site numbers to just over 130 across the country.
We are on the lookout for an appropriately qualified and experienced individual to step into the role of Fit-Out Project Manager.
This role covers both front end and project supervisory responsibilities. Early project phases will have a focus on planning and scheduling in relation to implementing the fit-out and commissioning of new stores and store upgrades. Once signed off, you will then take an active role in order to ensure delivery to expected time frames and budgets, which will include supervising site works as needed. In that regard, we are seeking a candidate with a good base understanding of project management/building as you will need to be someone who can communicate clearly and in a meaningful way with contractors, suppliers and key internal contacts.
It is likely that you will come from a construction, building, engineering, architectural or planning background. You will be at the stage of your career where you will be ready to take on more accountability and further develop your project management skills. This will be an attractive opportunity for someone interested in shifting into a Property Development team with a client side focus.
Reporting to a Development Manager, this opportunity will see you working across a variety of projects from inception through to completion. You will also work closely with a range of internal and external stake-holders; and you will also be accountable for suppliers and subbies on projects you are over-seeing.
Key areas of capability we will be looking for are as follows:
- Tested project scheduling skills – either from a design or site management perspective.
- Excellent written and communication skills, and proven stake-holder management experience
- Subcontractor and supplier engagement experience – preferable
- A track record of project delivery within time and budget
- A natural ability to look for smart solutions and value engineering opportunities.
- Commercial savvy around delivering suitable solutions and managing risk
- A strong team focus and the ability to work well with others, as well as with limited supervision as needed
- An ability to travel – there will be times where you will need to oversee site works
