Fletcher Living has delivered a number of high-quality and successful apartment buildings as part of our residential communities in Auckland and Canterbury since 2017.  While terrace houses will remain a key component of the market for new home builds, there’s a growing demand for higher density homes to help address population growth and affordability in Auckland.

We’ve launched a dedicated business unit to manage the planning, delivery and sale of our Auckland-based apartments projects. We have several projects already in the pipeline, some of which will be developed within our existing communities, while others will be on newly acquired sites. This is an exciting opportunity to help establish and drive the apartments business.

The Role

The Chief Quantity Surveyor is a newly formed position for Fletcher Living Apartments based at our head office in Penrose. Reporting directly to the General Manager you will have responsibility for leading the cost function, including a team of Quantity Surveyors, to ensure future cost certainty, accurate monitoring and cost data recovery on all projects. You will be working closely with the development, design and delivery teams to advise on cost plans throughout the full lifecycle of our apartment projects from feasibility and concept design through to procurement and construction. 

This is a senior role that is likely to evolve as the business continues to grow; you will be a key member of the business unit lead team and will therefore be involved in setting and executing the growth strategy. 

About You

To be successful in this role you will require: 

  • The ability to lead and motivate teams and develop internal and external relationships. 
  • Suitable qualifications in Construction/Quantity Surveying 
  • Strong experience in the management and set up of cost systems
  • Extensive and relevant industry experience specifically in medium/high density residential and light commercial projects
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and a commercial mindset
