About us

Fletcher Building is a company with a celebrated history that started in New Zealand over 100 years ago. With around 14,500 employees, the Fletcher Building family is a community made up of people who use all of their experience, skills and individuality to do amazing work. We have significant operations in New Zealand and Australia, and also operate in the South Pacific. We are enriched by many different languages, customs and lifestyles.

The Role
The Compliance Team is a specialist team within the wider New Zealand Payroll function. We have a 12 month fixed term contract available for an experienced Payroll Compliance Analyst. You will work with business units and the payroll team to actively contribute to the continuous development of our payroll systems and processes.  As a payroll subject matter expert, your strong knowledge of payroll related legislation and ability to systematically review, audit and analyse large datasets will ensure our complex practices and systems remain compliant.

  • Support the Payroll Remediation and Compliance team activities in the detailed investigation of all aspects of payroll to fully identify any gaps in compliance (with employment agreements and relevant legislation) and determine root cause for these gaps.
  • Provide detailed documentation of these findings both at a technical level and also in a way that can be discussed with management teams in the business units.
  • Record options and recommendations for how changes may be made to the payroll to ensure compliance (process and system).
  • Calculate the impact of changes to employee pay including the financial impact on the business unit and to present these findings to stakeholders in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ensure that the work allocated is executed in a professional, accurate and timely manner according to the requirements of the Steering Committee and the Head of Payroll and Credit Management & Debt Recovery.

About you
Your role is essential to ensuring Fletcher Building operates in compliance with all relevant New Zealand legislation as it relates to Payroll. You therefore must have an in depth understanding of legislative compliance relating to payroll in New Zealand, a sound understanding of the Holidays Act 2003 and an ability to interpret it into plain English.  Experience in managing end to end remediation activities to ensure the organisation meets its compliance obligations is also a must.

You will thrive on challenge and complexity, and you will enjoy taking ownership, assisting others and working collaboratively. Technically minded and an advanced Excel user, you will have an exceptionally high level of attention to detail and accuracy. You will be a quick learner, particularly when it comes to business knowledge and software applications. You will also be able to appreciate the bigger picture, ensuring changes are assessed effectively and all impacts are considered. Chris21 experience is highly advantageous but not essential.
