Description:

Brian Perry Civil is a leading and award-winning New Zealand specialist civil and foundation contractor. As part of the overall Fletcher Building Group, we undertake a wide range of challenging civil construction projects throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific with specialities including piling, retaining wall and ground improvement works.

The Role:
Our HSE approach is to build a proactive, safety focused culture where employees play an active role in the health and safety of our organisation. Our health and safety professionals are central to our HSE approach. We have a great opportunity for someone to oversee a unique portfolio of work within our Fletcher Construction business.  This HSE position will report to the Head of Health & Safety and cover our South Pacific and Buildings part of the Fletcher Construction business. You will be responsible for delivering a range of identified practices, programmes and procedures in line with our HSE strategy and have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of civil and infrastructure projects.  The role is a permanent full time position, based at our Fletcher Building campus.

About You:
We are keen to speak to people who can achieve HSE excellence through generating engagement in safety, rather than just compliance.  You’ll have a particular passion for coaching and mentoring, and as projects are situated right across the Pacific, you’ll be comfortable engaging with your stakeholders that may not always be right in front of you – there you’ll feel comfortable having to engage technology (MS Teams / Video / Phone) to connect with your Managers and staff, so this is where your fantastic communication and engagement skills come in!  Although candidates offering experience relating to the construction sector will be considered favourably, we do not believe that this is an absolute requirement for the role and candidates from closely related industries are encouraged to apply.

This is a challenging position suited to those who are passionate about health and safety and who enjoy working with and alongside a diverse range of people and cultures. The successful individual will be someone with the ability to positively increase HSE performance by building a safety culture through their ability to influence and coach others.  You will have strong working knowledge of the New Zealand legislative environment including HSE, ACC, HSNO and industry guidelines and standards. We are looking for someone who will offer excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively engage and interact with the diversity of people we work with.

The successful candidate will be an individual who can demonstrate their ability to make a significant impact on an organisation’s performance through a range of compelling initiatives they may have created, improved on or adopted.

Make a difference to our business and advance your career.  At Brian Perry Civil you will enjoy the benefits and recognition of working for a well-respected business unit within the Fletcher Building Group. Along with a competitive remuneration package, this opportunity will also be an ideal platform for high performers to be ‘seen’ within the group.
