Today, you’ll see Laminex on surfaces everywhere you look - be it hospitals, shopping centres, restaurants, or your home. We manufacture and procure a broad range of products for commercial and residential use such as laminate, engineered stone and veneers so that all Australians can live in beautiful, practical spaces. 

Located two hours South of Perth, the Dardanup plant was constructed in 1975 and commissioned in 1976, with the first board manufactured in 1977. The site is divided into a Particleboard, LPM and Support Services team, which include stores replenishment, industrial technologists, scheduling, engineering, research, and development. We currently employ a workforce of 185, the majority of whom work on a continuous shift roster. Subject to demand, on average our Particleboard plant current produces 863m3 per day and our Melamine plants produce 11,000m2 per day.

Where your story begins

Being one of Australia’s leading manufacturers in the building & interiors industry requires ongoing support and maintenance of electrical equipment. As a result, we are seeking an experienced and safety orientated Maintenance Electrician at our Dardanup site in Western Australia.

The primary focus of this role is to provide assistance in the electrical maintenance of all the equipment supporting the manufacturing process. We are seeking to appoint a person who has experience in maintaining a high standard of work in accordance with Australian regulations and standards and work as a proactive member of the Finishing operations team, under the site organisational structure. 

The successful applicants will preferably have experience with process automation and instrumentation, with desired experience in Rockwell Automation control systems. You will contribute to a positive team environment & also develop apprentices. Key focuses & responsibilities will include:
  • Pro-actively demonstrate a personal commitment to safety and our PROTECT safety culture
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and comply with the responsibilities, accountabilities and authorities contained within the safety system relevant to your position and team
  • Pro-actively undertake Safety Behaviour Conversations (SBC) and identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures
  • Achieve and maintain a high standard of housekeeping
  • Report all injuries, incidents, hazards and near misses, regardless of severity
  • Complete quality assurance testing and recording  
  • Efficient and effective fault finding to diagnose and repair plant outages in a timely manner.
  • Prioritise jobs to achieve high plant availability and in accordance with instructions from maintenance and production supervisors
  • Develop and maintain positive work relationships within the team

The role you’ll play

To be successful in the role you will ideally need to possess: 
  • Appropriate trade certification
  • Current “A” Grade electrical license issued by the electrical licensing board WA

The following would also be advantageous to your application:
  • Senior First Aid certificate
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment 
  • Experience in maintenance fault finding using PLC and Relay Logic
  • Process control Instrumentation and calibration experience
  • Knowledge of control systems including Allan Bradley
  • High voltage Maintenance 22KV ring main
  • Good knowledge of AC/DC drives
  • Confined space certification
