Fletcher Construction recognises that health and safety (H&S) risks are inherent in any project it undertakes and has implemented a pragmatic, people-focussed, company-wide approach to keeping its employees and subcontractors safe and well. We have recently undergone a “safety reset programme” with the support of global consultants DSS. This is a great opportunity to be part of a world leading programme.

Our Values reflect the business’ approach to ensuring a 'zero-harm' working environment and the fundamental belief that all work-related injuries are preventable.

The Role
We are looking for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join the team on one of our Major Projects. This role will be based in the heart of Auckland and will provide visible and passionate safety leadership. In this position you will work alongside our own workforce, as well as with the diversity of subcontractors which we engage. A key focus of this role will be aimed at coaching and developing both internal and external parties.  This is a challenging role and is ideally suited to those who are passionate and experienced in H&S and keen to be an instrumental part of lifting and setting a benchmark across the construction sector.

We are interested to talk with candidates who can offer a proven H&S track record (ideally within the construction or building industries). Preferably you will have solid grounding in and up to date knowledge of the HSE Act, along with expertise in the development and/or delivery of an H&S Management Plan. You will also have solid expertise in monitoring and auditing workplaces, along with experience in accident & incident investigation, analysis and reporting. More importantly, our successful candidate will show strength in their ability to relate to people from all walks of life, and, as such, will be known for their strengths in influencing people towards the positive uptake and adoption of company policies and procedures.

Required is someone who lives and breathes a ‘zero-harm’ culture and is a passionate advocate of getting that message across to all.

Responsibilities
* Ensuring business leaders are competent, accountable and committed to H&S;
* Encouraging participation in H&S initiatives at all levels of the business;
* Actively supporting industry training programmes around safe work practices;
* Complying with all relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice for the industry;
* Establishing measurable H&S targets, and accurately reporting and investigating all workplace incidents;
* Consistently striving to eliminate work-related injuries by proactively managing hazards

Key Criteria
Required is someone who is passionate about our industry. Having prior experience will enable you to instantly add value, while supporting the Project Management team. To do this, you must have:
* NEBOSH or HSW qualification
* Commercial or Infrastructure project experience
* Clear communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* NZ or Australian citizenship or residency

We also work well for our clients, to ensure that projects are delivered on time without time lost due to injury or illness, these intertwined parts of our culture drive a strong focus on H & S. We consistently strive to work smarter and are better prepared to manage risk.

We welcome your individuality. We are enriched by so many nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles. We are proud of our diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger.
