Driver & Inwards Goods/Counter Sales – Mico Walter Street

Great opportunity to build a career in the Trade Retail industry
Physical and busy role with paid overtime and other benefits
Permanent, fulltime role at our commercial Walter Street branch in Wellington CBD

Our Mico Walter Street store in Wellington CBD is a well-established and successful commercial branch, boasting a beautiful retail showroom while providing trade solutions to a large and loyal trade customer base, residential solutions to home builders and commercial solutions to the local business sector.
Mico New Zealand is a leading supplier of plumbing and bathroom products to the trade, retail and commercial sectors, with 69 branches and around 550 employees throughout New Zealand.

The role

You'll be joining the team in our Walter Street branch in a Driver role which will also include some inwards goods work and time spent serving our customers on the trade counter. It would be starting as soon as possible and be fulltime. If you're successful, we would provide additional training including getting you your forklift licence (if you don’t already have one). You’d get product and systems training right from the start, and support from the experienced team around you.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, this is a highly physical role that will see you driving deliveries throughout the Wellington area. You’ll ensure that your customers, who are made up of tradies, businesses and home-owners, are greeted with a cheerful smile and exceptional service.

This is a permanent, fulltime role, working Mondays to Fridays, with rostered Saturday mornings.

About you

To shine in this role, you’ll bring a customer-focused attitude and strong work ethic to the business and be prepared to work closely and flexibly with the rest of our team. The ability to build rapport and relationships should be your strength.

There is a great deal of manual handling required, and so you’ll need to be physically fit. A full, clean, class 1 drivers’ licence is required and a forklift licence would be a real bonus (but we can provide the training, if needed)!

What’s in it for you

In return, we’ll offer you a competitive pay rate, excellent opportunities for training and development, and a strong and supportive team environment. As Mico New Zealand is also part of Fletcher Building, there are big company benefits, such as an Employee Education Fund and an exciting and forward-thinking new parental leave policy.

The career opportunities are exciting! Mico has a culture of career paths and development and career progression, with people in our business staying for up to 40 years and enjoying a varied career. For those coming into the business at an entry-level, we’re able to offer opportunities to start a career in Retail Sales, Warehousing & Distribution and Driving.

Applications close on Tuesday, 11th April 2023 (unless the role is filled sooner).

Please note:
A full clean New Zealand drivers licence is required
A full pre-employment medical, including a drug test, will be required
You must currently be legally entitled to live and work permanently in New Zealand, to be considered for this role

We are proud of the incredible diversity of people who make up our business! As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we strive to create an inclusive environment for all our employees across our national network of branches throughout New Zealand.
