Fletcher Wood Products (FWP) is a newly established business within the Building Products division of Fletcher Building.  The business represents our re-entry into the wood sector which is supported by strong macro trends and contributes to NZ’s goal of a low-carbon circular economy.
FWP encompasses sawmilling assets in Waipapa which produces a range of sawn timber products, including industrial and structural grades, a renewable fuels business and delivering a new wood panel production plant in Taupo.  The new plant will utilise innovative technology to produce cost competitive, high-quality products that have diverse applications in furniture, joinery and the broader construction sector. 

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Planner/Scheduler to join our team helping to deliver this new $270m manufacturing plant in Taupo NZ. This is a fixed term role for the duration of the construction phase, anticipated to reach completion by June 2025. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning and scheduling of this project to ensure that work streams are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Develop project plans and schedules, and continually monitor progress against these plans
  • Analyse project data, including resource requirements, task durations, and critical paths, to identify project risks and issues
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that project requirements are understood and delivered
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement strategies to mitigate project risks and issues
  • Provide guidance and direction to project teams on planning and scheduling best practices
  • Develop and maintain project reports and dashboards, including progress reports, resource utilization reports, and cost reports
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and develop and implement solutions to improve project planning and scheduling processes

We are keen to speak with people who have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably in the construction industry
  • Experience in using project management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks and issues
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage project resources effectively
  • Knowledge of construction project management processes, including scheduling, resource planning, risk management, and cost management
