The Fletcher Construction Company is a leading general contractor, delivering a range of iconic projects across New Zealand. 

Covering 32,000m² across seven floors, the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) will be NZ’s largest purpose-built convention centre and an iconic landmark of Auckland CBD to be delivered by Fletcher Construction in a design build model.  

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team on the NZICC project. 

About the role
This is a key people leadership role which involves leading, planning, managing, and controlling the Quantity Surveying function and full contract servicing of projects including monitoring and reporting on the financial position of the NZICC project. 

This position manages project costs to achieve agreed levels of margin and profit for Fletcher Construction while still achieving the required standards for time, quality, and service. Working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager and Commercial Director, this role is also responsible for the professional development of the project QS team.  

About You
You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders across all levels, ability to work under pressure, and will enjoy working as part of a team.

Ideally you will have a Services background with experience in fire, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing and drainage. 
 
In addition, you will have:
A tertiary qualification in Procurement, Business, Quantity Surveying or relevant discipline  
Minimum ten years’ experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a people leader role, and specific experience in leading and managing procurement strategies on large and complex projects. 
Proven experience of leading and building a high-performance team
Proven to make judgement and sound decision in high pressure environments
Detailed and thorough with the ability to develop solutions to problems
Clear thinker, able to identify opportunities and align others to a common approach
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficient skills in MS Office
