About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity in this role, where you’ll lead the region’s sales team through planning, motivating and coaching, to achieve and better their sales targets. This role is more ‘hunter’ than ‘farmer’, although both are key aspects of the role. Your relationship skills will prove invaluable, as you collaborate with your team and your peers, as well as building and strengthening relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the Regional Sales Manager role has 7 direct reports, and works closely alongside the operations team in the region. With a collaborative management style, you will know how to get the best out of people and will enjoy seeing others grow and succeed. You’ll model a strong customer service culture, the ability to lead and influence, a strong commercial acumen and build and foster positive relationships between the sales team and the teams within our branches, to ensure high level service delivery.
This is a permanent full time role, preferably based in the Hamilton area where the largest customers are based. There is a degree of flexibility with regards to working hours, with ‘work from home’ opportunities as well. The region spans from the Bombay Hills in the North, through the Coromandel and Bay of Plenty, as far as Taupo to the South. Travel is a necessity of the role with some overnight travel required at times. Attending customer and company events is occasionally required too, but we are a business that’s very mindful of a healthy work-life balance!
About you:
Success in this role is about leading successfully, so relationship and leadership skills are what we’re looking for, and prior experience in leading top performing teams is essential. Your general business acumen will be a great advantage in driving our market share, maximising the profitability of your region, maintaining budget alignment and actively seeking out opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs, as well as developing and implementing regional sales and marketing plans.
Having some industry knowledge and experience within the plumbing or building industries would be a huge bonus - someone with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges within the plumbing space. However, your personality, drive and tenacity are what really counts!
