Description:
We are looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join the team at Humes, that can support our production, distribution and retail teams across the country.
The H&S Manager is a key member of the senior leadership team within the business and wider division.
While mainly based in our Penrose, Head Office, due to the national business network some travel will be required to ensure engagement with different operational teams.
It will offer you the opportunity to shape and influence the processes, policy and procedures of the Business Unit to ensure everyone goes home safe and well, while working within a collaborative network of H&S professionals across the division and wider Fletcher network.

Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
The role will be involved in the normal day to day operational H&S challenges as well as providing strategic guidance, governance, and support in environment, health & safety practices nationally.
An ability to engage our operational staff and managers to prioritise H&S in all aspects of the work that we do.
Supporting the different H&S programmes and initiatives delivered across the business in collaboration with the L&OD team.
Manage any and all incidents including investigations, reporting and corrective actions as required.
Ngā Pūmanawatanga Ōu - What You Will Bring
- Tertiary qualification – preferably Health and Safety related
- Previous experience (5+ years) in an H&S Senior Advisor or Manager role
- 3+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Industry preferred
- Qualification and/or advanced investigations and risk assessment
- An expert understanding and practicable knowledge of relevant New Zealand H&S legislation (HSWA 2015)
- Ability to define and Implement Industrial Hygiene and Health Surveillance Programs
- Stakeholder Engagement & People Management
- Strong problem-solving and priorities management capability.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and managing an EHS Management System
- Proven capability in achieving Health and Safety performance improvement and experience building cultural change
- Ability to work in a complex work environment.
