Winstone Aggregate’s is looking for a new lab technician to join their accredited lab.  Never worked in a lab before? No problem, we’re happy to train. This role is based at the Waikato Expressway, Newstead. Hours are 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday with some Saturdays required.

The Concrete Division comprises Fletcher Building’s aggregate, cement and concrete businesses, employing over 1300 people across three business units. Winstone Aggregates is 150 years old and the largest supplier of sand and aggregate in New Zealand.

Lab work in a quarry may not be what you’re imagining. You don’t need a white coat or a science degree, but common sense will take you far in this role. Your goal is to identify and assess the quality of the aggregate we produce.

Your day-to-day tasks will include assisting on quality control testing, reporting on daily work, making sure you’re following health and safety rules and help the laboratory technician meet the needs of the client. You will be helping to conduct, amongst others; nuclear density tests, scala tests, beam tests and sampling and laboratory testing.

To be successful for this role you will need to have:
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Health and safety awareness
  • Be physically fit (there is repetitive heavy lifting)
  • Right to work in New Zealand

If you consider yourself a great communicator and a reliable self-starter then you’ll fit right in.

In return we’ll offer you
  • A stepping stone into the wider quarrying environment.
  • A guaranteed 40 hour week
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • A great team environment

If you’re not afraid of hard work, have excellent attention to detail and keen to learn then we’d like to hear from you.
