Description

Fletcher Wood Products (FWP) is a newly established business within the Building Products division of Fletcher Building.  The business represents our re-entry into the wood sector which is supported by strong macro trends and contributes to NZ’s goal of a low-carbon circular economy.

FWP encompasses sawmilling assets in Waipapa which produces a range of sawn timber products, including industrial and structural grades, a renewable fuels business and a new wood panel production plant in Taupo.  The new plant will utilise innovative technology to produce cost competitive, high-quality products that have diverse applications in furniture, joinery and the broader construction sector.

We are seeking an EHS Business Partner to join our team based on the project site in Taupo. Reporting to the Project Director, this is a fixed term role for the duration of the project, expected to be completed in 2026.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with local and national regulations.
  • Provide training and support to staff on both EHS best practices and also how to achieve best practice while achieving the project time, cost and programme delivery goals.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Prepare and present EHS reports to senior management.
Qualifications and Experience we are looking for include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand Health & Safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certification in EHS management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a plus.
An excellent salary package is on offer in a collaborative work environment with professional development opportunities on a high profile construction project.
