About the role
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Lead to play a key leadership role in our NZ Payroll Team.  As a Payroll Divisional Lead, you'll be responsible for managing end to end payroll operations as well as managing related finance, tax, ACC, benefits, training and compliance framework. This role will lead payroll operational teams to ensure that our payroll systems and processes meet legislative and contractual compliance requirements and enable efficient and accurate processing of employee pays for the Fletcher Building Business Units across New Zealand. You'll also support the Head of New Zealand Payroll and Credit Management & Debt Recovery in developing the payroll service delivery strategy.  The role works with a small team of Divisional Leads and has rotating responsibility for:

  • ACC employer accreditation requirements and employee benefits including associated training, process, documentation and reconciliations.
  • Payroll finance tasks
  • Benefits
  • Payroll training to payroll staff, stakeholders and managers
  • Payroll compliance
  • Payroll tax

About you
  • You will have proven experience in building and managing stakeholder and client relationships, managing training facilitation, and be driven to provide a prompt, efficient and personalised service to customers ensuring customer needs are met. You'll also possess the following:
  • 10 years’ experience in Payroll, Payroll Finance and Accounting.
  • In-depth understanding of Chris21 payroll system and time and attendance systems.
  • Experience with creating and delivering the training framework across payroll operations and business stakeholders ensuring all payroll staff are NZPPA certified.
  • In-depth understanding of payroll legislative framework.
  • Experience with monthly, fortnightly, weekly pay cycles with multiple Collective Employment Agreements. 
  • High level written and oral communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, develop solutions to problems, and make decisions.
