Waipapa Pine Limited is a leading Northland timber milling operation located in 2 operational sites at Waipapa and Whangārei. The business is part of the Fletcher Building group, employing around 120 staff. Role Purpose
The General Manager can be based in either Northland or Auckland and will lead strategic and operational initiatives to drive performance across key metrics including OOE, DIFOTIS, NPS, and ENPS. This role is critical in fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring sustainable growth. You’ll be at the helm of planning and executing a number of capex initiatives and play a lead role in streamlining processes and improving productivity and enhancing a strong safety mindset across both sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute strategic plans and identify growth opportunities
  • Oversee operations across both sites and drive efficiency
  • Safety leadership and compliance with all HSE standards
  • Lead and develop the senior leadership team
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and market share
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance
  • Develop strong staff retention via leadership development and a continuous learning approach

Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for someone with senior leadership in timber milling operations / manufacturing or forestry experience or related sectors, who has a strong grasp of operational metrics and continuous improvement. You will ideally have proven multi-site management and financial acumen with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability. You will have a strategic and results orientated outlook, combined with a collaborative and empathetic leadership style 

The role blends high-level strategy with hands-on operational oversight. You’ll be responsible for driving performance and standards and the role is ideal for someone who thrives on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement. With a strong emphasis on leadership, engagement, and culture-building, this role is perfect for someone who values team development and wants to foster a high-performance, inclusive environment.
