Description

At Humes, we believe in building better, together.
We’re looking for a confident and compassionate Senior Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor to join our team in Christchurch.

This is a meaningful opportunity to lead with care, support our people, and help shape a proactive safety culture across our South Island operations.

As a key member of our EHS team, you’ll work closely with site leaders, team members, and external partners to ensure our people go home safely every day. You’ll bring your expertise, empathy, and energy to guide, coach, and empower others in creating safer, healthier workplaces.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing trusted EHS advice and support across two manufacturing sites and nine sales centres
  • Leading safety initiatives and supporting the implementation of EHS programmes
  • Facilitating audits, investigations, and risk assessments with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Supporting wellness initiatives and coordinating health monitoring and rehabilitation processes
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, councils, and regulatory bodies
  • Encouraging open communication, celebrating safety wins, and fostering a culture of care and accountability

What you’ll bring:
  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in EHS or a related field
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a similar advisory role, ideally within manufacturing, distribution, or transport
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership and coaching
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and inspire others
  • A deep belief that all injuries are preventable and a passion for making a difference
  • Confidence in using systems like Radar and Microsoft Office tools

Why join us?

At Humes, you’ll be part of a supportive and purpose-driven team that values wellbeing, growth, and connection. We’re proud of our inclusive culture and our commitment to protecting what matters most—our people.

You’ll have the opportunity to lead with heart, contribute to meaningful change, and grow your career in a business that’s shaping the future of infrastructure in Aotearoa.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t apply for roles unless they match 100% the job description.

We are proud of your diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger. We welcome your individuality and encourage you to bring your true self to work, so if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t fit it, we would still love you to apply.
