Description

As a Fitout Project Manager, you’ll lead the planning and execution of site setups for PlaceMakers and Mico stores across NZ.  

This is a varied role that includes greenfield sites, new developments, refurbishments, upgrades, and decommissioning existing sites. Managing the full project lifecycle from early design and concept development, through approvals and consents, scheduling, site preparation and construction, to final installations and handover. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, contractors and local councils bringing fitout plans to life, ensuring every site is delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans, track progress against milestones, and maintain oversight of budgets and timelines across multiple concurrent projects
  • Oversee the installation of racking, signage, merchandising, and infrastructure, ensuring all elements meet design intent, safety protocols, and compliance standards
  • Take charge of on-site deliveries, coordinating installation activities to minimise disruption to operations
  • Plan & manage smaller non-fitout projects from end to end such as lighting upgrades or minor building extensions
  • Identify potential challenges early and implement solutions to avoid delays and cost overruns
  • Build strong working relationships with designers, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors to ensure high-quality execution and accountability
  • Manage council consenting processes, including the preparation and submission of resource and building consent applications
This is a permanent, 40 hour per week full-time role Monday to Friday based at our Support Office in Penrose. National travel is required to oversee projects on-site.

About you:
Success in this role means seeing a concept come to life on time, on budget, and ready for trading. You’ll bring relevant experience in project or construction management, ideally with an understanding of fit-outs, trade environments, or store commissioning providing project leadership and direction acting as our eyes and ears on the ground.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building materials, and NZ building regulations & legislation
  • Skilled in scheduling, workflow coordination, contract preparation, and stakeholder negotiations
  • Confident reading and interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Proficient in project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Commercial awareness to deliver practical solutions while managing risk
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, show resilience and patience
  • Flexibility to travel as and when required
  • A bachelor’s degree in project, construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is advantageous
