About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled Project Engineer to join our Major Projects team. For the first 12 months, you’ll lead Temporary Works for the Te Awa Kairangi project, ensuring safe, efficient, and innovative construction solutions. After this period, you’ll transition into a broader construction project engineering role, contributing to major infrastructure delivery.

  • Lead and coordinate Temporary Works design and delivery
  • Act as the primary interface between site teams and designers
  • Manage 4D construction sequence modelling and related resources
  • Ensure compliance with safety, design standards, and project requirements
  • Maintain Temporary Works documentation, registers, and permits
  • Transition into a construction-focused engineering role after 12 months

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years’ experience in heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of Temporary Works risks and coordination
  • Proven site-based engineering and project management experience
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills

About Te Awa Kairangi

Te Awa Kairangi Alliance is delivering transport, walking and cycling improvements to the SH2 Melling interchange and rail station, as part of a wider flood protection and city revitalisation programme.

Fletcher Construction is working with Alliance partners AECOM, NZTA, Taranaki Whānui and Ngāti Toa Rangatira to deliver this transformative project.  Design is underway and construction is due to commence in late 2025.

About Us

We pride ourselves on safely delivering a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects for the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific. But our power is not in what we do, it’s in who we are. We are a team of 3,700 people working under three brands: Fletcher Construction, Higgins, and Brian Perry Civil. We may be a big team, but we haven’t lost sight of what really matters: looking after our people.

We recognise that treating our people well is only partially about what happens during work hours. It’s also about the impact we have outside of work hours too. That’s why we have incredible learning and development opportunities for staff and their families, industry-leading parental leave, support systems and generous corporate discounts.
