Description

Who We Are

Stramit is one of Australia’s leading vertically integrated steel manufacturers and total steel building material solutions providers. As part of the Fletcher Building Group, we employ more than 12,000 people across New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific — all connected by a purpose of improving the world around us through smart thinking, simply delivered.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and agile Sourcing & Inventory Officer with a strong manufacturing background to join our national procurement function. Reporting to the National Procurement Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing our national import portfolio, supporting sourcing initiatives, and maintaining high standards across inventory accuracy and supply chain performance.

This is a full‑time role based at our Knoxfield (VIC) site, with three dedicated onsite days each week.

This role is best suited to someone who has operated in large-scale, complex business environments, ideally in the manufacturing sector, and is comfortable working at pace while contributing to both operational delivery and low‑level strategic sourcing projects.

Key Responsibilities

Imports & Supply Chain
  • Manage national import products, including Asian supplier coordination and delivery timelines
  • Oversee steel inventory levels and liaise with third‑party coil processing partners
  • Support supplier performance reviews, stock‑out escalations and consignment returns

Sourcing & Contracts
  • Support national sourcing initiatives across multiple categories
  • Assist with contract reviews, tender participation, and value‑driven supplier evaluation
  • Contribute insights and data to low‑level strategic procurement planning

Inventory Management
  • Coordinate the national cycle count program and annual stocktake
  • Develop and deliver tools, training and reporting to branches to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Analyse SLOB and aged stock, support reduction plans, and follow up with stakeholders

Operational Excellence
  • Manage national outstanding purchase order closure and ensure data accuracy
  • Assist with product lifecycle transitions including introductions, discontinuations and system updates
  • Uphold safety, quality, and Zero Harm standards across all procurement and inventory processes

What You’ll Bring
We are seeking candidates who have operated at a national scale within large or enterprise-level organisations, bringing both operational depth and strategic awareness.

To be successful, you’ll have:
  • Experience in procurement and inventory management within a manufacturing environment (essential)
  • Exposure to national-level responsibilities in a complex, multi‑site organisation
  • Familiarity with international imports, particularly from Asian markets
  • Experience reviewing contracts, tenders and supplier agreements
  • Strong analytical and numerical capability, with a detail-focused approach
  • Ability to work with pace and agility in a dynamic environment
  • Clear communication skills and confidence engaging cross‑functionally
  • Initiative, problem-solving capability and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Understanding of purchasing and contract management principles (APICS preferred)

Why Work With Us?

  • Industry-leading parental leave — 26 weeks full pay (primary carers) or 52 weeks at 50% pay
  • 5 additional “New Parent Leave” days for carers returning to work
  • Strong commitment to Inclusion & Diversity, including Gender Affirmation Leave (10 days) and LGBTQ+ Rainbow Tick accreditation
  • Access to PerkBox with thousands of discounts across major retailers
  • Full training, modern technology, and the tools you need to succeed
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
