Description

Are you ready to make a significant impact on a transformative project? Fletcher Construction is seeking a talented and innovative Senior Programmer to lead planning excellence for Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Te Awa Kairangi).

About the Role

This is a senior-level opportunity to own and lead the programming function for the alliance. You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining the Integrated Master Schedule, driving process improvements, and mentoring engineers in planning disciplines. You’ll play a key role in identifying sequencing efficiencies, managing schedule risk, and ensuring delivery confidence across the project lifecycle.

  • Leading programme development and version control across the alliance
  • Running schedule risk analysis and supporting time-related claims
  • Driving planning discipline uplift across the team
  • Facilitating planning workshops and stakeholder engagement
  • Reporting using KPIs, Earned Value Management (EVM), and forecasting tools

What you’ll bring to the role

We’re after someone who brings deep technical expertise and practical delivery experience. You’ll be confident navigating complex infrastructure environments and comfortable leading planning conversations across all levels of the alliance.  You might come from infrastructure, industrial production, vertical builds, mining, gas, or utilities. If you understand sequencing and planning in complex environments, we want to hear from you.

  • Proven experience in project planning and scheduling
  • Infrastructure or major project experience preferred
  • Advanced skills in Primavera P6, MS Project, and tools like Power BI
  • Strong understanding of EVM and Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA)
  • Experience with 4D planning tools (e.g. Synchro 4D, Asta)
  • Engineering or project management qualifications (preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills and critical thinking
  • A collaborative, agile mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

About Us

We pride ourselves on safely delivering a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects for the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific. But our power is not in what we do, it’s in who we are. We are a team of 3,700 people working under three brands: Fletcher Construction, Higgins, and Brian Perry Civil. We may be a big team, but we haven’t lost sight of what really matters: looking after our people.

We recognise that treating our people well is only partially about what happens during work hours. It’s also about the impact we have outside of work hours too. That’s why we have incredible learning and development opportunities for staff and their families, industry-leading parental leave, support systems and generous corporate discounts.
