Description

For over 150 years, Winstone Aggregates has been a trusted name in New Zealand’s construction industry. With 20 quarries nationwide, a fleet of 70 trucks, and a team of 450 people, we’re proud to help build the foundations of communities across Aotearoa.

We have a requirement for a Senior Laboratory Technician based at our Whitehall quarry. While you will have support from the Lab Manager and wider team this role is expected to have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders, building partnerships to further the scope of the lab.

Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday between 0830am to 1630am.

What You’ll Do
  • Carry out quality control testing of aggregate products
  • Assist with research and development of new testing methods
  • Collect, register, and test samples to meet NZ standards
  • Maintain accurate data and reports using LIMS systems
  • Promote a safe, clean, and collaborative lab environment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence

Qualifications & Experience
  • Engineering or Science qualifications (secondary or tertiary)
  • KTP Level in Aggregate and Soils Testing (advantageous or willing to attain)
  • Practical laboratory experience in aggregates or soils testing
  • Knowledge of NZ Standards and Guidelines for aggregate testing
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025 and Laboratory Quality Management Systems
  • Experience using and calibrating aggregate testing equipment
  • Understanding of aggregate source material properties and stockpile management
  • Knowledge of sampling methods and interpretation of test results
