Description

Higgins is seeking a Site Engineer to join our Construction team in Tauranga.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will plan, coordinate, and deliver the operational aspects of assigned projects, ensuring health and safety, environmental, quality, and financial performance targets are achieved.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Assist with pricing, tendering, and securing work, including preparing quotes and estimates. 
  • Plan and organise plant, labour, subcontractors, and suppliers for projects. 
  • Manage projects to set estimates, ensuring optimal operational efficiencies. 
  • Maintain programmes of work and review job packs/sheets. 
  • Monitor financial information and project costs. 
  • Ensure compliance with job specifications, company policies, and relevant legislation. 
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients. 
  • Champion best practices in health and safety, environment, and quality.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • Previous experience on New Zealand civils and roading projects in an engineering capacity, with technical knowledge of roading construction methods and techniques. 
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (NZDCE, BEng Civil, or similar). 
  • Strong focus on cost control and quality outcomes. 
  • Understanding of the Construction Contracts Act and the ability to apply NZS3910. 
  • Experience managing project resources, including materials and teams/crews. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with stakeholders and clients. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and general systems aptitude.
