Description

As the Yard & Drive Thru Team Leader at PlaceMakers Mangawhai, you’ll be a trusted expert for our trade customers, guiding your team to deliver tailored product advice and exceptional service from the moment someone walks through the door. You’ll take ownership of the yard & drive thru daily operations, while also supporting in the showroom ensuring all areas are safe, well-stocked, and visually appealing. You’ll mentor your team, uphold our customer first culture, and help create an experience that keeps them coming back.

  • Lead and motivate the team to exceed customer service and sales targets
  • Provide expert product recommendations tailored to customer needs
  • Manage stock levels through regular cycle counts and coordinate timely ordering
  • Support accurate picking, packing, and preparation of customer orders
  • Provide hands on leadership through training, coaching, and ongoing support
  • Help ensure product is correctly loaded, strapped, and ready for customer collection or delivery
  • Ensure the yard & drive thru areas are clean, safe, and well-presented at all times

Permanent full-time role based at PlaceMakers Mangawhai offering 40 hours per week Monday to Friday with rostered Saturdays

About You: 
To succeed in this role, you’ll lead by example and bring proven leadership experience that engages and motivates your team. You enjoy working with others, take pride in putting customers first, and make every interaction a positive one. Practical and hands on, you’re comfortable jumping on a forklift, helping prepare loads, or serving customers at the trade counter whenever needed.

  • Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and support a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bring fresh ideas and a bold approach to problem-solving to help achieve team and business goals
  • Take initiative to review how things are done and make improvements where needed
  • Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting and manual handling
  • Knowledge of building materials or understanding of construction processes is advantageous 
  • Full NZ Class 1 drivers’ licence is essential 
  • Forklift Licence with F endorsement is a bonus
