Description

Since 1973, ColorCote has been at the forefront of pre‑painted steel and aluminium roofing and cladding in Aotearoa New Zealand, helping shape the buildings and infrastructure our communities rely on.

ColorCote combines trusted brands, quality products and deep technical expertise to support customers right across the country.

We’re looking for a Senior Specification Manager who enjoys building relationships, sharing technical expertise in a supportive way, and collaborating across teams to deliver great outcomes for customers and the industry.

Why you’ll love this role
  • Play a key role in how New Zealand’s buildings are designed and delivered, partnering with architects, specifiers and developers.
  • Join a values‑led, supportive team within a well‑established national business.
  • Lead and nurture a small specification team, with scope to grow capability over time.
  • Enjoy variety – combining site and customer visits, industry events, and cross‑functional collaboration with product, technical, production and sales teams.
  • Benefit from being part of the wider Fletcher Building whānau, with development opportunities and a strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing.
What you’ll be doing

In this senior, Auckland‑based role you will:
  • Lead ColorCote’s national specification strategy, making our products the preferred choice in roofing and cladding.
  • Build warm, trusted relationships with architects, specifiers, developers, main contractors and industry organisations.
  • Provide thoughtful technical advice on building projects – from design through to specification – to secure and protect ColorCote specifications.
  • Partner closely with regional Account Managers and the sales team, sharing insights, coaching on specification best practice and jointly pursuing key projects.
  • Offer informed market feedback on trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities to help shape product development and strategy.
  • Represent ColorCote with industry bodies and associations, helping to enhance our brand, relationships and influence across the sector.
  • Travel regularly within New Zealand to stay close to customers, projects and regional teams.
What you’ll bring

We know great people come from a range of backgrounds, and we’re open to different paths into this role. Ideally, you will bring:
  • A tertiary qualification in a technical discipline (e.g. engineering, building, architecture, construction) or similar applied experience.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a technical role within the building or construction industry.
  • Confidence reading and interpreting building plans, details and specifications, and translating them into practical solutions.
  • A balanced mix of technical/industry knowledge and commercial or sales awareness, with a genuine interest in understanding customer needs.
  • Experience engaging with architects, specifiers or industry bodies, and comfort presenting to groups at events or forums.
  • A collaborative leadership style – you enjoy coaching, sharing knowledge and creating an inclusive, high‑performing team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to ask thoughtful questions, listen actively and co‑design solutions with others.
  • A commitment to health, safety and wellbeing is essential – you’ll role‑model safe behaviours and support others to do the same.
Ready to shape what’s next?

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
