About the Role

Join the team delivering the Cook Strait Interislander Ferries – Wellington Port Infrastructure Early Works, a complex marine and port construction package.

This hands‑on role manages the commercial delivery of construction work packages, including cost control, procurement, subcontractor administration, and variations from award through to final account. Working on the contractor side, you will partner closely with site teams to maintain financial control and contractual certainty on an active project.

  • Manage assigned work packages from procurement through delivery and close‑out
  • Control costs, forecasts, and cash flow against approved budgets
  • Lead procurement activities for subcontracted scopes of work
  • Administer subcontracts, including payments, claims, and contractual notices
  • Prepare, assess, and negotiate variations in line with contract requirements
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting throughout the project 

What You’ll Bring

You bring solid contractor‑side experience and the confidence to manage commercial matters in a demanding construction environment.

  • A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Five or more years’ experience in a quantity surveying or commercial role
  • Essential experience working on the contractor side of construction projects
  • Strong capability in work package delivery and subcontractor administration
  • Proven experience managing variations, cost control, and procurement
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site teams
